Production Designer Suzie Davies is a two-time Academy Award nominee known for her immersive, detailed, and period-specific designs. Recent work includes the Oscars Best Picture nominee Conclave for director Edward Berger, for which she won an ADG and BFDG award and was nominated at the Academy, BAFTA, and Critics Choice Awards. Davies was lauded for her recreation of the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel as well as her inclusion of human details, which grounded the film’s dignified characters.

 

Davies’ other notable credits include Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, for which she won Best Production Design at the ADG, SDSA, and BFDG Awards, and Will Sharpe’s The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, for which she won a BFDG Award and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award. She frequently collaborates with director Mike Leigh, having designed Hard Truths, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, Peterloo, which premiered at Venice Film Festival and earned Davies a British Independent Film Awards nomination, and Mr. Turner, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for the Palme d’Or, and earned Davies nominations from the Academy and BAFTA Awards. 

 

Previous credits include Dominic Cooke’s The Courier and On Chesil Beach, both of which premiered at Sundance Film Festival, as well as Niki Caro’s The Zookeeper’s Wife and Philippa Lowthorpe’s Swallows and Amazons.


Based in the UK, Davies’ upcoming work includes Dylan Southern’s The Thing with Feathers, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and premiered at Sundance Film Festival, Kyle Balda’s Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
