Anne Dixon's creative passion and illustrious design career spans over a myriad of genres and periods, seen internationally in theatre, opera, film and television.
Dixon's keen insight and visual pulse are captured in recent films such as Viggo Mortensen's The Dead Don't Hurt, for which she won a CAFTCAD Award, David Cronenberg's The Shrouds, nominated for a CSA Award, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival, and Francois Girard’s epic drama The Song of Names which gave Dixon her first CAFTCAD Award and a CSA nomination. Previous notable credits include Viggo Mortensen’s first feature Falling, which earned her nominations for a CSA and CinEuphoria Awards, Neil Burger's nail biting psychological thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter and Robert Budreau's Born To Be Blue and Jeremy Podeswa's Fugitive Pieces, both of which premiered at TIFF.
Dixon immersive costumes also shine in television, with credits including season one of Netflix's hit series Anne with an E, Showtime's political drama The Comey Rule, and most recently MGM+ 1980s gritty crime/drama The Westies. On a more creative flow, Anne's range of designs can be seen in dance, with Veronica Tennant’s “Karen Kain: Dancing in the Moment” and James Kudelka’s “The Firebird”, the Sandra Bezic’s ice-skating competition “Battle of the Blades”, and Barbara Willlis Sweete’s opera “Don Giovanni Unmasked”.
Being one of the most versatile and sought-after Costume Designers, Dixon has collaborated with iconic directors including Viggo Mortensen, David Cronenberg, Francois Girard, Niki Caro, Jeremy Podeswa, Sudz Sutherland, Billy Ray, Mick Jackson, Angelica Houston, Paul Mazursky, Kathy Bates and Veronica Tennant. She has likewise worked closely with notable talent such as Vicky Krieps, Ethan Hawke, Guy Pearce, Daisy Ridley, Rosamund Pike, Gary Oldman, J.K. Simmons, Jeff Daniels, and Diane Kruger to name but a few.
Dixon graduated in Art & Design from The University of the Arts London, England. Being fluent in French and English, she has worked internationally in Canada, US, UK, Australia, France, Greece, Hungary, Mexico and Poland. Anne has been recognized with numerous nominations and wins for Best Costume Design from the CSA’s to the CAFTCAD’s and the Genie Awards. She is a recipient of the Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award and received the Tom Patterson Award for most promising designer and has been published in Canadian Who's Who .
