Chayse Irvin, ASC, CSC is an award-winning Canadian/American cinematographer best known for shooting Andrew Dominik’s Blonde, a Marilyn Monroe Biopic starring Ana de Armas, which earned him a Golden Frog nomination at Camerimage, and Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning BlackKkKlansman (2018). He most recently shot Trey Edward Shult’s 2025 psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow, starring Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, as well as Mother, Couch in 2023. In 2022, Irvin shot Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer’s God’s Creatures, starring Emily Watson and Paul Mescal, which premiered at the Director’s Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival.

 

Irvin’s distinctive style first drew attention with his feature debut Medeas (2013), for which he won the Cinematographer’s Debut award at Camerimage. He went on to shoot Andrea Pallaoro’s Hannah (2017), starring Charlotte Rampling, which won the Silver Hugo for Best Cinematography at the Chicago International Film Festival. Additionally, Irvin is best known for his long-running collaboration with director/artist Kahil Joseph, with whom he shot Beyoncé’s acclaimed visual album Lemonade (2016). His commercial work spans clients such as Apple, Google, and Louis Vuitton, along with music videos for Jay-Z, Leon Bridges, and Sampha. His work on Sampha’s Process earned him the Gold Lion for cinematography at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
