max goldman

Max Goldman is a Seattle-born cinematographer recognized for his artistic, signature approach to image-making. A graduate of the American Film Institute, where he earned his Master’s degree in Cinematography and received the prestigious Forester Scholarship for excellence, Goldman has built a career defined by striking compositions, tonal precision, and a painterly command of light.

In recent years, his work has expanded prominently into long-form storytelling. He photographed the dream sequence of Episode 7 of Season Two of Apple TV+’s Severance (2025), contributing to the show’s meticulously crafted and psychologically charged visual language. His feature credits include Surrounded (2023), White Echo (2019), directed by Chloë Sevigny and honored at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as SHOT! The Psycho-Spiritual Mantra of Rock (2016), directed by Barney Clay, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Across these projects, Goldman maintains a refined aesthetic that balances atmosphere with emotional intimacy.

Earlier in his career, Goldman established himself in the music video world, quickly rising through the ranks and collaborating with directors including Tim Burton. His cinematography in the format earned multiple nominations and awards, including recognition from Camerimage. He later transitioned seamlessly into high-profile commercial work, lensing international campaigns that garnered honors from AICP and a D&AD award for cinematography.

Known for his distinctly artful visual sensibility and global body of work, Max Goldman continues to move fluidly between features, television, music videos, and commercials, bringing a cohesive and elevated cinematic voice to each medium.
