Natalie Kingston, ASC is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer whose work is recognized for its emotionally resonant imagery, understated visual elegance, and instinctive sense of character. Working across film, television, music, and commercial campaigns, she has become one of the industry's most remarkable visual storytellers.
Kingston earned widespread acclaim for her cinematography on the Apple TV+ limited series Black Bird, which screened in competition at the 2022 Camerimage Film Festival. Her work on the series earned the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, making her the first woman to win the category.
Most recently, Kingston photographed Lauren Meyering's acclaimed debut feature Horsegirls. Prior to that, she lensed Tolga Karaçelik's Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write about a Serial Killer, starring Steve Buscemi and John Magaro, which won the Audience Award at the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
In 2023, American Cinematographer recognized Kingston as one of its Rising Stars of Cinematography, highlighting her as one of the medium's most exciting emerging voices.
Earlier in her career, Kingston photographed Samantha Aldana's psychological drama Shapeless, which premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Festival, with critics praising the film's expressive visual language and its ability to reflect the protagonist's inner world. That same year, she shot Julia Stone's Break featuring St. Vincent, which premiered at SXSW.
Kingston first broke onto the festival circuit with Lost Bayou, which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Festival. Variety praised the film's striking cinematography, noting its tranquil, sunlit imagery and immersive sense of place. During that same period, she collaborated with director Amber Grace Johnson on Alma Har'el's “Free The Work” campaign, showcased at Cannes Lions, and photographed Billie Eilish's music videos for “You Should See Me in a Crown” and “Bitches Broken Hearts”.
Beyond narrative filmmaking, Kingston has lensed campaigns for brands including Adidas, Powerade, On, the NFL, No7, Volvo, and Team USA. She is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), the International Cinematographers Guild, and the Television Academy. She is based in Los Angeles.
