Steve Annis, BSC, is a British cinematographer recognized for his bold, stylized imagery and refined visual storytelling across film, television, and music videos. Raised in Manchester, UK, Annis developed an early passion for image-making that evolved into a distinguished career behind the camera. His notable film credits include Inside (Berlin Film Festival 2023), We Bury the Dead (SXSW 2026) Color Out of Space (Toronto & London Film Festivals 2019), I Am Mother (Sundance 2023), The Crow (2024), the TV series Foundation (2021) and I’m a Virgo (2023).

Annis’s work in music videos has earned considerable industry recognition. With 11 UKMVA nominations, he won Best Cinematography in a Video for Jon Hopkins – “Open Eye Signal”. He has also garnered multiple nominations at Camerimage for Best Cinematography in a Music Video, including for Leon Bridges – “Bad Bad News” and Florence + the Machine – “What Kind of Man”.

His craft has been further acknowledged by the American Society of Cinematographers with a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography for the pilot of Foundation: “The Emperor’s Peace”, reflecting his range from genre features to high-end television. Annis’s visual work has also been celebrated across major creative award platforms, with recognitions and nominations at Cannes Lions, Clio Awards, D&AD, and British Arrows, highlighting his influence in both commercial and artistic filmmaking.
